The Center for Election Science (CES) is proud to announce an exciting new research partnership with the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. This collaboration brings together McCourt students and CES researchers to develop actionable, evidence-based policy recommendations for election practitioners.
Under the mentorship of Professor Lia Merivaki, two McCourt graduate students are working closely with CES to conduct in-depth data analysis, produce study briefs, and create public-facing scholarship. Their work focuses on key issues such as youth voter participation and support for election reforms, including approval voting—a voting method championed by CES for its ability to reduce vote splitting and improve election fairness.
The program’s capstone event, titled "Redesigning Democracy: Research on Election Systems and Reform," will take place on May 19th, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM ET. This live event will showcase the students’ findings, celebrate pioneering researchers in our community and offer a platform to discuss innovative approaches to electoral reform with legislators, policymakers, academics, and the public.
This partnership underscores CES’s commitment to advancing research-backed education and fostering collaboration to improve democracy. For more information about CES and its initiatives, visit https://electionscience.org/research-hub
