The Center for Election Science Debuts at the National Conference of State Legislators in Louisville
– Aug 12, 2024
The Center for Election Science (CES) recently made its debut as an exhibitor at the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) for the 50th iteration of the event, held this year in Louisville, Kentucky! This marked CES' first time attending the conference, and it was an incredible opportunity to engage with state legislators, staff, and policy experts from across the nation.
As exhibitors, CES had the chance to introduce the concept of approval voting to key decision-makers who shape election laws and policies in their respective states. Our team was excited to demonstrate how this simple yet powerful method—where voters can support all the candidates they like—can lead to more representative and fair elections, using our new advocacy tools.
Throughout the conference, CES engaged in meaningful conversations, shared the latest research (including America [Mis]Represented) and highlighted the practical benefits of implementing approval voting. The overall reception was fantastic, as many policy makers and legislators walked away as approval voting converts. It was inspiring to see the interest and enthusiasm from state leaders across the political spectrum for improving our democracy.
The experience was a significant milestone for CES, and reinforces the organization's commitment to real world advocacy and education. We look forward to continuing our work with state legislators and other stakeholders to bring better voting methods to communities across the country.
