Approval Voting Chapter Program

The work of strengthening democracy takes all of us. That’s why we’re launching a grassroots chapter program to help advocates like you empower voters in your community with approval voting.

What is a chapter?

Chapters are officially sanctioned supporter organizations of The Center for Election Science. They engage in grassroots activities like educating the public, reaching out to officials and advocating for voting method reform. Chapters are largely self-run, but they will receive guidance and support from CES staff.

How can I join a chapter?

Every two months, we host virtual chapter meetings according to timezones (East Coast, Central, Mountain, and West Coast). Local chapters then break out into smaller rooms within the meeting to discuss advocacy efforts in their area. To join in you can:

  1. Complete the chapter signup form so that you’ll receive local chapter email communications about meetings and updates
  2. Join your local chapter Facebook Group:
    California Approves
    Colorado Facebook Group
    Los Angeles Facebook Group

Mid-Atlantic (DC, MD, VA, & DE) Facebook Group
NY + NJ + CT Facebook Group
Philadelphia Approves (Greater Philly) Discord Channel

How can I start a chapter?

We need local supporters like you to help start and lead approval voting chapters across the country. If you’re interested in starting and leading a chapter in your community, complete our Chapter Leader Submission Form. You can also email Chris Raleigh (chris@electionscience.org) for more information.

We’ve also launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide grants ranging from $5k – $75k for local, approval voting campaigns. The current round of submissions is due October 12th. Click here to learn more about the RFP process and requirements.

How else can I help?

To create a real grassroots movement, we need all hands on deck. We have a couple volunteer positions available that will help make the chapter program a success so that we can empower more voters with approval voting. Take a look at the position descriptions and email Chris (chris@electionscience.org) if you’re interested in applying:
