Congratulations Seattle Approves: Approval Voting Measure Qualifies for City Ballot this Fall
– Jun 16, 2022
The Center for Election Science is excited to share the news that Seattle Approves has gathered the signatures necessary to put Initiative 134, which will bring approval voting to Seattle, on the November ballot.
This campaign is a model for our movement to empower voters in communities across America. Local citizens like Troy Davis, Logan Bowers, and the whole team have given voters in the Emerald City a chance to cast a more powerful ballot in the years to come.
Through steadfast determination, Seattle Approves has gathered more than 26,000 signatures in support of this effort.
The Center for Election Science is proud to celebrate this accomplishment along with our allies at Seattle Approves. We look forward to the campaign ahead!
If approved this fall, Seattle will be the third city to adopt approval voting. With over 700,000 residents, Seattle would be the largest population to adopt the new method as well.
You can read the press release here, or follow the campaign on their website, seattleapproves.org.
