When you invest in CES,
this is where your money goes

Legislative Advocacy

CES is engaging with elected officials in state and local jurisdictions across the country to put approval voting and other positive reforms into the debate. In 2024, we introduced SB913 in the Maryland State Senate, the first legislation focused solely on approval voting in the state.

Actionable & Timely Research

CES was built on a foundation of research. Through our independent research and partnerships with top-notch academic institutions, we are studying all angles of voting reform. In 2024, we released the first America (Mis)Represented Report, a comprehensive review of broken primaries in the 2022 election.

Building Coalitions for Reform

To capitalize on the growing momentum for reform, CES is building partnerships with political leaders and fellow reform organizations.

Why I Give

When you contribute to CES, you are making a statement about the democracy you wish to see.

Our community members represent opinions from across the political spectrum, and no two stories of discovery are the same. The uniting principle is a belief in voting and the need for change.

We are very grateful for the generosity of our supporters, whose passion for the vote advances our mission and shines a light on needed voting reforms. We’re excited to share the stories from a few of our generous supporters.

The first time I walked into the voting booth, I was confronted with the lesser of two evils equation. I had two choices, and neither one excited me. More often than not, this is how I feel every time I vote. When I support CES, I invest in a bottom-up, evidence-based approach to ending this problem and giving voters more choice. I invest in elections that represent the voters.

Jon Summers

Pennsylvania

We could make real progress on the fundamental issues facing humanity like, climate change, if the extreme wings didn’t dominate our primary elections. Approval voting would give people who want to govern a fighting chance again and make progress possible.

Christine Morshedi

California

I’ve seen a community divided and the unifying power of our elections dashed in my hometown of St Louis. But I’ve also seen the power of approval voting to motivate participation from voters of all backgrounds, empowered by a louder voice. Approval voting is so simple, but it changes the equation for politicians and voters alike.

Lashana Lewis

Missouri

I’ve seen the impact of vote splitting as a candidate. I ran for office to promote a positive, productive agenda for the voters. But because there were so many candidates, the competition became focused on differentiation from other candidates, in any way possible. Elections should be about issues and goals, not artificial differences. Approval voting is a reform that can deliver that.
