As we headed into 2020, we knew voting would be on everyone’s minds as each of us looked ahead to another presidential election. We also knew we had a growing base of supporters from Alaska to Texas to Maine to Florida.*
You—yes, you—and your support of fairer, more representative elections means so much to us.
To bring approval voting to the forefront of people’s minds, we had to take advantage of this opportunity. Despite being a national organization with no physical headquarters, we had to find a way to be with YOU. So we made a plan and we committed to it.
In just the first two months of 2020, we visited with 489 of you in 10 cities. And the response was overwhelmingly positive. People could see the problem—and the solution—so clearly. It was incredible.
But in the past few months, I’ve seen something even more incredible.
In what may be the most trying point in our lifetimes, I’ve seen you make an even bigger commitment to this movement for better elections.
You’ve joined us virtually to organize for change in cities like Seattle and San Francisco, Denver and Dallas. You’ve helped spread the message about approval voting by sharing our interviews with voting reform experts. And many of you have made a choice to invest in something that will help us elect strong, capable leaders to government—something that we desperately need in times like this.
Since the pandemic started, you’ve helped us reach over 2,300 people, many of whom had never heard of voting methods or approval voting.
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for inviting your friends and family to learn more about better elections. Thank you for helping spread the word about a way we can work together to improve our world.
I can’t wait until we’re able to be back in a room with you, hearing stories from your communities about the change you want to see. But in the meantime, I am so grateful for all that you have done to help us educate the public about how we can all benefit from a better way of voting.
I am humbled by your continued commitment to bringing fairer, more representative elections to voters across this country. Thank you for making this possible.
*This list is not comprehensive. We also have supporters from Canada, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong. We hope to one day be able to visit you, too!
